Cathy CareyCelebrating our
22nd Anniversary in 2021!

Twenty-two years have passed since I started Town Life Magazine. Thank you for welcoming us into your home.

I grew up in White Bear Lake, am the former Associate Editor of the White Bear Press and the Publisher of Town Life Magazine.

Town Life is published quarterly by Town Life, Inc., a small business owned by me and my husband, Brendan. The magazine is not affiliated with any other publication though it is distributed within the White Bear Press.

White Bear: A History
In addition to publishing the magazine, I was commissioned by White Bear Township to research, write and design a “coffee table” history book called White Bear: A History. The award-winning book was chosen by White Bear Reads as its 2012 “Book of the Year.”

White Bear: A History was published by White Bear Township to commemorate its 2008 Sesquicentennial.

White Bear originally encompassed White Bear Township, White Bear Lake, Gem Lake, Vadnais Heights and a portion of North Oaks. The early years of these communities are carefully chronicled in my history book.

To purchase a copy of the history book visit Lake Country Booksellers, Festival Foods, White Bear Lake Area Historical Society or White Bear Township’s Offices. You can also check it out at the White Bear Lake Library.

Town Life Magazine
Town Life Magazine celebrates the best aspects of living in the White Bear Lake Area.

Our color, glossy magazine is distributed to 10,000 homes that receive the newspaper by delivery in White Bear Lake, White Bear Township and Gem Lake. It is also sold via subscription and in Lake Country Booksellers and Festival Foods-WBL.

Town Life features well-written and beautifully-photographed articles about local people as well as history, arts and entertainment, recreation, education, nature, news and events.

Readers tell us they look forward to receiving each issue and, after three months, often transfer it from their coffee tables to their bookshelves.
Many have saved every magazine since 1999.

Local Talent
All of Town Life’s artists, writers and photographers are from the White Bear Lake area. Those interested in contributing to the magazine should contact me via Email: careycabal@aol.com or U.S. Mail: Town Life, 57 Wilkin Street, Suite 2, St. Paul, MN 55102. Samples of an artist’s work should be included at the time of inquiry.

Town Life believes in providing readers with professional journalism and a hometown focus. We especially enjoy covering the people who enrich our schools, arts, environment, recreation and small businesses.

The magazine promotes a “family friendly” lifestyle and does not accept advertising from bars, liquor stores, smoke shops or adult-oriented businesses. We reserve the right to reject any advertising that isn’t a good fit for our publication.

2021 Deadlines
Town Life is printed four times a year. Deadlines for story ideas, advertising and calendar events are February 12 for the Spring Issue; May 14 for the Summer Issue; August 13 for the Fall Issue; and November 12 for the Winter Issue.

Contacting us
Readers are encouraged to submit story ideas, photographs and calendar items of local interest.

Story ideas may be submitted via Email (careycabal@aol.com); U.S. Mail (Town Life, 57 Wilkin Street, Suite 2, St. Paul, MN 55102); or Telephone (651-292-9343, Noon to 5 p.m.). Calendar items and press releases must be submitted in writing via U.S. Mail or Email.

Town Life’s specialty is promoting small businesses. Our News & Events page features new businesses as well as upcoming events.

Since many small business owners do not have their own in-house graphic artists, we are happy to design their ads for free.

Advertisers buy space in the magazine (not content) so the ads we create cannot be shared with other publications. To advertise, please visit www.town-life.com for ad rates or call 651-292-9343.

The Next Issue
We’re already planning our next issue and hope to include your story ideas, news and events, and advertising.

Thank you, again, for welcoming us into your home all of these years.

The best is yet to come!

Best wishes,

Catherine Carey, Publisher
